On TV: action with Jason Statham in a surprisingly dark role
Killer Elite revolves around the mercenary Danny (Statham), who turns his back on his profession after a traumatic event. But when his old mentor Hunter (De Niro) is in mortal danger, he returns from retirement. To prevent Hunter’s death, he is supposed to kill three former British elite soldiers.
However, after the first successful attack, a secret society called The Feather Men (dt. Die Federmänner) gets wind of the operation. Leader Spike Logan (Owen) treats Danny with the utmost severity.
Killer Elite is based on the novel The Feather Men by Ranulph Fiennes, which was also published under that title after the film’s release. As claimed in the trailer, among other things, the content of the book is said to be a true story. According to the Collider report, however, the story is largely fictional.
