Rocky star Sylvester Stallone made a cameo appearance in the 2009 Bollywood movie Kambakkht Ishq. The action sequence is extremely entertaining.
Sylvester Stallone can now look back on a film career spanning almost 60 years. While Sly gave action fans in particular some great masterpieces like Rocky and Rambo, the actor also occasionally missed the mark over the decades. Particularly in recent years, the decisions in Stallone’s filmography have raised more questions (we’re thinking of The Expendables 4, for example), although in titles like Tulsa King, he repeatedly proves why he is still one of the really big Hollywood stars.
In 2009, Stallone made a particularly interesting choice, appearing in a now-completely-forgotten Bollywood movie. His scene in it is bizarre, to say the least.
Sylvester Stallone plays the hero in the Bollywood movie Kambakkht Ishq
In the movie Kambakkht Ishq, Sylvester Stallone comes to the aid of the main character, played by Kareena Kapoor, who is caught in the clutches of criminals in the streets of Los Angeles. As a knight in shining armor, Sly takes on the villains with his fists and beats them into submission in a completely crazy action sequence. The scene can be found on YouTube, among other places, so of course we don’t want to withhold it from you:
When it was released in 2009, Sabir Khan’s film was only able to stay in the black in its country of production, India, but it received largely devastating reviews and audience ratings, among other things for sexist and homophobic content (via Slash Film ). As a result, the film only received an audience score of 31 percent based on over 2,500 ratings at Rotten Tomatoes.
Sylvester Stallone wanted to combine Hollywood and Bollywood in Kambakkht Ishq
In a conversation with Eros Now Music, Stallone revealed the reason why he agreed to make a cameo appearance in Kambakkht Ishq at the time:
To me, it feels like we are bridging the gap between two cultural and artistic centers. The film is about a topic that I like, it’s about heart, about giving and spirituality, about the physical manifestation of love.
Unfortunately, you can’t stream the full-length movie in Germany at the moment. However, the movie is available for purchase on DVD or Blu-ray from providers such as Amazon.
