Punky sci-fi cult classic with Bruce Willis: The Fifth Element to stream
In 126 minutes, The Fifth Element takes us on an absolutely crazy trip, with a top-class cast. Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) is piloting his flying taxi unerringly through futuristic New York in the year 2263 when suddenly the traumatized Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) falls into the cab and turns his life upside down.
Because the young woman is the only one who can stop an ancient evil force that threatens to destroy the Earth. The unscrupulous industrialist Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman) and his crew of monstrous space pirates are determined to prevent this, so they hunt down Leeloo.
The great appeal of The Fifth Element is the countless whimsical ideas that create a completely new world and are bursting with creativity. With great attention to detail, Besson unleashes a sci-fi masterpiece that impresses with great attention to detail. The film has also been rated as worth seeing by 32,850 users in our community, with a score of 7.5 out of 10. It also ranks 5th among the best space operas.
Alita: Battle Angel is an underrated cyberpunk action movie
Alita: Battle Angel is also set in the future, in the year 2563, 300 years after a great war that changed the world. Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz) comes across the broken cyborg Alita (Rosa Salazar) in a junkyard. She consists only of machine parts except for the human brain. Her foster father patches her up and Alita, who has no memory at all, discovers remarkable fighting skills. She uses her talent from now on as a bounty hunter.
Continuation of Alita: Battle Angel not yet off the table
With producer James Cameron, the nine-part manga series Battle Angel Alita by Yukito Kishiro was to be greatly expanded. Although it grossed over 401 million US dollars worldwide, with a high production budget of 170 million, Alita: Battle Angel fell short of expectations, causing the planned sequel to be canceled.
The audience was apparently well entertained, as an average rating of 7 points on Moviepilot shows. At Rotten Tomatoes, the critics are mostly positive, at 61 percent, highlighting the special effects, which the story can’t quite keep up with. But the movie is still more than worth seeing for genre fans. Incidentally, a sequel is still not completely off the table; at least James Cameron hinted in July 2023 that he’s working on several (!) Alita movies at once.
