Alongside Michael C. Hall and numerous stars such as Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage, the new Dexter series can look forward to two old acquaintances.
Dexter fans have plenty to be excited about right now. Their favorite serial killer series is being revived with numerous spin-offs. One of them has been making headlines for weeks now, because the upcoming sequel series Dexter: Resurrection is bringing on board one familiar face after another.
With not only Michael C. Hall returning to the title role and all the well-known new additions at his side, two actors have now been signed who will make every Dexter fan’s heart beat faster.
The Trinity Killer returns: Two Dexter stars join the new series Resurrection
As Deadline reports, John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits will return in Dexter: Resurrection. Jimmy Smits is likely to be familiar to Dexter fans from season 3 of the main series, in which he played the role of ADA Miguel Prado, mutating into one of the biggest antagonists of the season.
John Lithgow, on the other hand, played Arthur Miller aka the Trinity Killer in Dexter, who caused trouble in season 4 of the series and already returned in Dexter: New Blood via flashbacks. For many fans, Lithgow’s Trinity Killer is considered the best serial killer in the entire series.
While both characters met their demise in Dexter, it is still unclear in what form they will return in Dexter: Resurrection. However, we can assume that the series will live up to its literally translated title Rebirth and possibly resurrect Prado and Miller from the dead.
In addition to Hall, Lithgow and Smits, the following returns have been confirmed:
- David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista
- Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan
- James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan
The new additions include the following stars:
- Kill Bill star Uma Thurman as Charey
- Game of Thrones alumnus Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater
- How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell
- Jessica Jones’ Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre
- Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet as Al
The showrunner is Clyde Philips, who brought all the previous Dexter series to the screens.
When and where will Dexter: Resurrection with John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits be shown?
An exact start date for the series has not yet been announced. For the USA, an approximate time frame has been set for summer 2025, both on linear TV and for streaming on Paramount+. In this country, the series should also be available on the streaming platform.
