Tom Selleck has finished filming his last day on Blue Bloods. Next, he is supposed to return to a crime series for which he has already appeared in front of the camera nine times.
For 14 years, Tom Selleck played the head of the family and police chief Frank Reagan in the popular crime series Blue Bloods – Crime Scene New York. In recent years, Selleck has had little time for other projects, so he left another popular crime series behind for Blue Bloods, for which he had already appeared nine times in front of the camera. Now the actor is to return to it.
Tom Selleck’s first project after Blue Bloods is to be a new Jesse Stone film.
While Tom Selleck has been toying with various follow-up ideas since the Blue Bloods cancellation was announced – including a possible western by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan – the Magnum P.I. star is apparently set to return to one of his greatest roles. For example, an entry for an upcoming Jesse Stone movie can now be found on the actor’s IMDb page.
Tom Selleck has already played the role of the eponymous detective, who brought the cases of the Robert B. Parker character to US television screens, nine times. Last year, Selleck revealed that he could imagine returning to the crime series after Blue Bloods. Now this plan seems to be coming true.
At the time, Tom Selleck told Parade:
“If Blue Bloods isn’t saved, there’s room for Jesse Stone.
As you know, I wrote [some of the movies]. I love Jesse. And it would be different. He’s older. It’s been a while since the last movie. It would be a fun thing to do. Anyway, I want to work. But we’re in the middle of Blue Bloods right now, I’m shooting it.
The Jesse Stone films revolve around the former L.A. detective who leaves the U.S. metropolis and his ex-wife behind to become chief of police in a small fishing village. There he loses himself in affairs with women and alcohol while solving numerous murder cases.

So far, it is not known when the new Jesse Stone crime thriller with Tom Selleck in the leading role is to be released, and we must treat the information with caution until it is confirmed. An IMDb entry is a long way from an official announcement. Since the now 80-year-old actor’s schedule should not be too full after the end of Blue Bloods, the film could possibly be coming soon. All nine previous episodes of the series can currently be found on Amazon as either purchased or rented titles.
All Blue Bloods fans, on the other hand, can look forward to the spin-off Boston Blue, in which Donny Wahlberg’s character Danny Reagan ends up in Boston. It is also possible that Selleck will make guest appearances here.
