In The Rookie Season 7, there is a huge crash. Especially in an episode that is based on a famous action masterpiece with Keanu Reeves. Nathan Fillion has his hands full.
Public transportation is a death trap. This is something that Keanu Reeves’ character in the famous action movie Speed learns the hard way: a bus must not travel at less than 50 miles per hour, otherwise a bomb on board will explode. Now, John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and his colleagues have a very similar problem in The Rookie season 7.
Nathan Fillion follows in Keanu Reeves’ action footsteps in The Rookie season 7
In the 11th episode of The Rookie season 7, John and Celina (Lisseth Chavez) go undercover on a bus. It’s supposed to be a relaxed assignment – but then someone takes hostages and the situation escalates.
How close the story of the episode actually comes to the action role model has not yet been revealed. The homage to the 90s masterpiece is already evident in the episode title “Speed”. According to a TV Line interview with The Rookie star Richard T. Jones, shooting the episode was a very special experience. Especially since he is a big fan of the 1994 movie:
I said to [showrunner] Alexi Hawley, ‘You have to do it right.’ At first, I was suspicious. But then I read the script and was very confident that we would pull it off.
To give the episode a special intensity, the creators often use so-called bodycams: the mini cameras attached to the police officers’ bodies are used to monitor their surroundings. Accordingly, the actors became cameramen and camerawomen. Not an easy task, as Jones also emphasizes.
When does The Rookie season 7 episode 11 air in Germany?
In this country, fans will have to wait another week for the eleventh episode of season 7. It will be released on Friday, April 4, 2025 on Sky and WOW. In total, season 7 of The Rookie includes 18 episodes.
