On TV today: a gigantic action blockbuster from a 7-billion-series, the end of which is closer than some fans would like

It’s well known that action movies aren’t particularly realistic. But this franchise knows how to take material battles to the extreme. Fans love it, but the end is near.

Today, there is non-stop action on TV: Fast & Furious 9 brings adrenaline, spectacular stunts and dry one-liners to the screen. However, the popular franchise has been in crisis for quite some time. Before the last movie opens in theaters, you can look forward to an especially exaggerated story with the ninth part.

Fast & Furious 9 on TV: Vin Diesel’s car family on a worldwide action mission

Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) lives a secluded life with his family, but the calm does not last long. His missing brother Jakob (John Cena), a stone-cold elite killer, turns up and threatens the team. Together with old allies, Dom goes on a worldwide mission to stop him and a dangerous weapon that could threaten all of humanity. The chase takes them from spectacular city streets to outer space – and a character believed dead makes a surprising return.

Mixed reviews for Fast & Furious 9 and a franchise in crisis

Over-the-top action is part of the Fast & Furious series, but with the ninth installment, the franchise has taken it to the extreme. The absurd plot does not go down well with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, where the film only receives 59 percent positive ratings, putting it in 6th place in the overall ranking.

Fans love the movie for exactly that reason, with 82 percent of them rating Fast & Furious 9 positively. The general consensus is: “The Fast franchise is more exaggerated than ever, but who needs a credible story when there’s action throughout?”

But after eleven films, the confusing order of which we have organized for you here, the grand finale is finally set to hit cinemas in the coming years. Vin Diesel already commented on Instagram last March with the words:

This grand finale is not just an ending – it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together. I hope to make you proud!
