Action superstar Jason Statham, who can currently be seen in A Working Man, has no respect for Marvel and superhero films. In his opinion, anyone can do it.
Jason Statham, known to us from The Expendables and the Fast & Furious franchise, is one of the greatest action stars of our time. He is currently shooting his way through movie theaters in A Working Man, but so far he has been able to resist the lucrative call of the superhero forge Marvel.
Statham explained why this is the case in no uncertain terms, without caring about being seen as a villain in the eyes of the Marvel bosses.
Action star Jason Statham doesn’t like Marvel roles: “Anyone can do that”
As someone who prefers hand-to-hand combat, Jason Statham has no love for the special effects action of Marvel movies. In 2015, he told 300 Calci (via Far Out ), quite amusingly:
I might as well put my grandmother in a cape, then they put her in front of a green screen and let stunt doubles do all the action. Anyone can do that.
Instead, Statham is inspired by “old, real stars” who can really do their thing. Nevertheless, the Transporter actor is said to have behaved very politely towards Kevin Feige when the former Marvel boss offered him a role. Allegedly, scheduling conflicts were more of an obstacle at the time.
Jason Statham is now in cinemas with A Working Man
Since March 26, Statham has been appearing in the action flick A Working Man, which he concocted with Sylvester Stallone and The Beekeeper director David Ayer. He plays former elite soldier Levon Cade, who now works as a foreman for contractor Joe (Michael Peña). When Joe’s daughter Jenny (Arianna Rivas) is kidnapped by smugglers, Levon uses his old skills to take care of the matter.
Jason Statham will also be appearing in The Beekeper 2 and Fast X: Part 2. However, you shouldn’t expect to see him in a blockbuster of the MCU or DCU in a superhero costume anytime soon. But who knows? With the right price, even bigger acting names have been known to give in.
