The Predator is returning this year with two new sci-fi horror films. The trailer for the first one is out now, but it may surprise some fans.
The Predator franchise continues this year with Predator: Killer of Killers. This is the first sequel since Prey from 2022, which was again directed by Dan Trachtenberg.
However, there is a small catch for fans of the slimy live-action slaughter of the sci-fi monster: in this case, it is an anthology animated film.
That’s what the animated sci-fi horror Predator: Killer of Killers is about.
The sixth film in the Predator franchise is an animated anthology that covers several thousand years of human history and shows how the alien bounty hunters have interacted with us over time. Or, more precisely, how they hunted us. After Prey took us to the Native Americans of 1719, the trailer for Killer of Killers shows, among other things, ninjas in ancient Japan, dogfights with Allied World War pilots, and Predator confrontations with Viking warriors.
Predator continues even after that – with another live-action film in 2025
Director Trachtenberg has the Predator franchise fully under control and, after the animated anthology, already has the next project in the starting blocks: Then again in live action and with Elle Fanning in the leading role. The synopsis for the seventh film, Predator: Badlands, says:
In the future, on a remote planet, a young Predator, rejected by his clan, finds an unexpected ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a dangerous journey in search of his ultimate opponent.
When are the new Predator movies coming out?
The anthology film for the sci-fi franchise will be released on the US streaming service Hulu as early as June 6, 2025. The title will be released internationally on Disney+. Predator: Badlands is scheduled to be released in German cinemas on November 6, 2025.
