Top Gun 2 actor Glen Powell is being touted as the next big Hollywood star. The trailer for the hotly anticipated Netflix smash hit Hit Man seems to confirm this assumption
“Glen Powell is probably our best hope when it comes to keeping the idea of movie stardom alive”. Little White Lies and other sites are expressing such euphoria about the Top Gun: Maverick star and his upcoming Netflix film Hit Man. Judging by the first teaser, the rave reviews don’t promise too much.

Glen Powell as an accidental killer: That’s what the Netflix highlight Hit Man is about
Hit Man revolves around psychology professor and police assistant Gary Johnson (Powell), who suddenly has to pose as a contract killer for an undercover mission. In the process, he also meets young Maddy (Adria Arjona), whose life he tries to improve thanks to his newly cultivated personality.
The action comedy by master director Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused) premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2023 and has since received many good reviews, which particularly highlight Powell’s acting. Gary Johnson is “the greatest role of his life”, writes Variety in a trailer commentary. “The ingenious noir comedy will be a real audience favorite,” confirms Screen Daily.
When is Hit Man coming to Netflix?
Hit Man will come to Netflix in the USA on June 7, 2024, a German streaming start is not yet known. It will also be released in cinemas in selected countries. Powell was also involved in the screenplay in addition to his leading role. The film is based on the true story of a Texas Monthly article by Skip Hollandsworth.
