Fans looking for an entertaining and action-packed alternative to the zombie universe of The Walking Dead found what they were looking for in Netflix’s thrilling series Black Summer, which featured two seasons of pure survival in the zombie apocalypse. For over two years, however, fans have been wondering whether there will ever be a third season. Now there is sad certainty.
No season 3 for Black Summer: Netflix has canceled The Walking Dead alternative
After Netflix mercilessly canceled 29 series last year, Black Summer has now joined the ranks of numerous series without a proper conclusion. As the website What’s on Netflix reports, Black Summer was secretly and quietly canceled some time ago.

Unfortunately, Netflix does not announce the cancellation of series itself and in many cases leaves this to those involved in the series. In the case of Black Summer, co-creator John Hyams announced on X last year that the series would probably not be returning for further episodes.
Black Summer, a spin-off of the horror series Z Nation, provided a refreshing alternative to the zombie hit The Walking Dead for two seasons. The series from trash studio The Asylum swapped post-apocalyptic character drama for intense horror action. The focus was on survival battles amidst the raging undead as well as a fast-paced and intense production.

Unfortunately, the second season of Black Summer ended with a cliffhanger after eight episodes. Several characters’ fates were left open for a sequel, which we now never get to see
