With The Batman, DC and Warner Bros. landed a big hit in cinemas two years ago. The dark comic adaptation starring Robert Pattinson grossed over 770 million US dollars at the global box office. No wonder the sequel was quickly a done deal. But that’s not all.
In addition to The Batman: Part II, various series projects were in development for the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max). The first has already taken shape and focuses on a well-known villain: Colin Farrell returns to the streets of Gotham City as The Penguin in his own series

After fighting evil with Batman, we now find ourselves in the middle of the swamp of crime. Colin Farrell’s Penguin already turned out to be a ruthless monster in the movie who knows exactly what makes Gotham’s underworld tick. Now Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot wants to extend his arm of power in Gotham.

The plot of the series picks up a week after the events of The Batman and tells the story of the rise of the iconic DC villain. The series was created by Lauren LeFranc (Impulse), while Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown) has been tapped to direct the first three episodes.
