Killer Elite with Jason Statham on Netflix: This is what the action-packed hitman film is about
Former contract killer and special agent Danny Bryce (Jason Statham) lives in seclusion in Australia. When he receives a photo showing his friend and mentor Hunter (Robert De Niro) being held hostage, he is forced to come out of retirement. The kidnapper is a Saudi Arabian prince who wants to reactivate Bryce.
Here you can watch the trailer for Killer Elite:
In order to save his mentor, Bryce must take out the killers who murdered the sheikh’s sons years ago. But that’s easier said than done. Because the killers are being protected by ex-S.A.S. soldier Spike (Clive Owen). He works for the secret organization The Feather Men, who could thwart Danny’s plans.
The Netflix newcomer Killer Elite is the film adaptation of a novel that appears in the movie
Killer Elite quickly turns out to be much more complex than one would initially expect from a rough-and-tumble action movie. And not without reason. McKendry’s spy thriller is based on the biographical novel The Feather Men by Sir Ranulph Fiennes. The former soldier of the Special Air Service (SAS), a special unit of the British Army, has processed his own experiences in it. Even the novel itself appears in the film, under a different title.
Meanwhile, The Feather Men is not without controversy. It has been claimed that the movie is based on real events, which some critics question. What is actually true and what is the author’s imagination is difficult to determine. In an interview with The Daily Beast, the author himself admitted that he has changed his mind on the truth of the story from time to time.
