Can German series reach an international audience? The answer is yes. Last Thursday, Maxton Hall – The World Between Us, Amazon Prime Video’s latest local in-house production, was launched and stormed the streaming charts. The love story is currently at number 1 in over 120 countries.
Amazon Prime Video is very pleased with the series’ performance. In a press release, the streaming service announced that Maxton Hall achieved “the largest global audience for a non-US title in the launch week in Prime Video history”. Investments are now being made in the future of the series

Investing in the future of the series: Specifically, this means that season 2 of Maxton Hall has officially been greenlit. After the first six episodes, we can look forward to a continuation of the story of Ruby (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James (Damian Hardung). The heartache is far from over

But why is Maxton Hall so successful? Philip Pratt, Head of German Originals at Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video, explains the success of the series as follows:

But that won’t happen quite so quickly. First of all, the scripts for the new episodes have to be written. But that shouldn’t be too complicated, after all there are three Maxton Hall novels: Save Me, Save You, Save Us. This would even provide material for a potential season 3.
