Smile 2 is about the young pop star Skye (Naomi Scott), who is about to embark on an elaborate world tour. But when a high school friend (Lukas Gage) kills himself with a dumbbell weight in front of her, her life is turned upside down. The grotesque grin on his face at the moment of his death seems to drive her more and more insane.

The fact that the horror hype Smile is getting a sequel will come as no surprise to many. The feature film debut of Parker Finn became a box office hit out of nowhere and, according to The Numbers, grossed more than ten times its production budget. Whether it will be able to repeat this success remains to be seen.
