Who would have thought that we would ever see a Marlon Brando biopic with Billy Zane in the lead role? But here we are. And there’s already a first trailer.
What’s Billy Zane doing these days? In recent years, the Titanic star has disappeared from the Hollywood limelight, although he can regularly be seen in new film productions. His latest project, however, is something that no film fan can ignore. Zane plays one of the greatest actors of all time: Marlon Brando.
A few days ago, the biopic Waltzing with Brando caused a stir when the first picture of Zane in the Brando role was released. Now there is a trailer that gives us an even better insight into the film. If we didn’t know any better, we would never have guessed that Zane was behind the layers of make-up.
First trailer for Waltzing with Brando: Billy Zane plays The Godfather star Marlon Brando
Waltzing with Brando is set between 1969 and 1974. During this time, two defining works were created in Brando’s oeuvre: The Godfather and Last Tango in Paris. Secretly, however, the actor wanted to distance himself from the film business and bought an uninhabited island in Tahiti that he wanted to turn into a paradise.
To realize his dream of a sustainable retreat, he hired the idealistic and eccentric architect Bernard Judge (played in the film by Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder). The film, written and directed by Bill Fishman (Tapeheads), is based on Judge’s memoirs from that time.
The film’s focus is squarely on the Tahiti story. Nevertheless, Waltzing with Brando will also take us back to Hollywood in those days, as the trailer shows. Fishman and his team have recreated, among other things, the iconic scene from The Godfather in which we meet Michael Corleone, played by Brando.
