First video for the Alien series on Disney+ announces visually stunning sci-fi horror for 2025

The sci-fi horror series Alien: Earth is set 30 years before the first Alien film on Earth, but we won’t have to go without xenomorphs. The first teaser video snippet proves it.

It’s not a bad time to be a fan of the Alien franchise, which has been running since the 70s. Alien: Romulus breathed new life into the sci-fi horror franchise (even though the movie crossed a creepy line), and the first teaser from a new Disney+ announcement video introduces the Alien: Earth series for next year. See for yourself (from 38 seconds):

In Alien: Earth, a spaceship crashes on Earth with a cargo that brings humanity into contact with the most dangerous threat in space. The crash is investigated by a woman named Wendy (Sydney Chandler), who is supported by her synthetic mentor Krish (Timothy Olyphant) and a series of rough-and-tumble soldiers.

Behind the project from Hulu and FX is showrunner Noah Hawley, known for the thriller anthology Fargo and the surreal superhero format Legion. He recently told Deadline about his alien series:

It’s really creepy to think that it’s moving among us here. I can’t tell you under what circumstances you’ll see it, but you will see it – and you’ll lock your doors at night. […] We know, among other things, that the host determines what the creature ultimately is. I wanted to play around with that to make it as scary as it should be.

Other roles include Essie Davis, Alex Lawther, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young and Sandra Yi Sencindiver as the CEO of antagonistic mega-corporation Weyland-Yutani, which is working on artificial intelligence at the time.

Does Alien: Earth have a 2025 release date yet?

No, the Alien series will be released on Hulu and FX in the US sometime in 2025 and will come to us via Disney+.

Other formats and follow-up seasons announced in the aforementioned video include Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, season 4 of the cuisine-dramedy The Bear, season 2 of Percy Jackson, season 2 of the Star Wars series Andor and a new format with Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo.
