Disney has finally released the first moving images of the remake of Lilo & Stitch. In the teaser trailer, the blue bully from outer space trashes the Disney castle.
Six years ago, we received the news that Disney was working on a live-action remake of the wacky science fiction comedy Lilo and Stitch. After the project was developed behind closed doors for a long time, the first moving images are now available. And they come up with a cheeky twist.
The Disney castle is usually always there in all its glory at the beginning of every new work from the studio. In the teaser trailer for the Lilo & Stitch live-action film, however, it is being taken apart piece by piece. Although in this case, “into its grains of sand” would be more accurate. Because Stitch is up to his mischief on an idyllic beach.

Stitch, a koala-like alien, is one of the most popular characters Disney has created in the 21st century. There are Stitch plush toys in every Disney store. It’s therefore hardly surprising that the studio has chosen the idiosyncratic story of the blue alien experiment for a remake.
In recent years, Disney has already reimagined several of its greatest classics in a live-action guise, from Alice in Wonderland to Beauty and the Beast to Dumbo. Now it’s Lilo & Stitch’s turn. It’s unclear how closely the new film will follow the 2002 original, but the teaser certainly captures the right energy.
The Lilo & Stitch live-action film was directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, who caused a sensation three years ago with Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. The extraordinary blend of live action and stop motion was even nominated for an Oscar. Now we can look forward to seeing what Fleischer-Camp has done on Lilo & Stitch.
