Netflix has released a trailer for the sixth season of Virgin River, in which Mel and Jack finally tie the knot. Only a few days separate us from the ringing of wedding bells.
The romantic drama Virgin River is one of the longer-running formats on the fickle streaming service Netflix. The sixth season is due out at the end of the year, and there is no end in sight. Even the trailer for the upcoming episodes feels like a highlight, because, as promised, Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) finally tie the knot – that is, provided nothing more comes up:
Virgin River Season 6: This is how the Netflix series continues
Virgin River began with Mel moving to the remote California town to work as a midwife and nurse. In the small, idyllic world full of nature and lumberjack shirts, she soon falls in love with the charming bar owner and ex-soldier Jack.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 6th season will see the spring wedding of the dream couple, although complications and a bit of drama await us, of course. We also look back to 1970s Virgin River to shed light on the mysterious past of Mel’s father Everett (newcomer Callum Kerr).
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith said the following about the wedding season:
“It was time. It seemed like a great event to build toward, so everyone had as much foresight and time to plan as possible… The production felt very much like Virgin River – the ambition behind it and the fact that we are a small group of people who care deeply about something: the fans. So we all went all out to make it happen.”
A seventh season of Virgin River is already assured for creators and fans
Even after the marriage has ended, things are still meant to remain exciting in the little series town of Virgin River. They have to, because the creators behind the format still have to fill a seventh season with new intrigue and dramatic twists. According to Deadline, Netflix commissioned it in October of this year and it will consist of ten new episodes.
But first, the sixth season is on the program schedule, which will go online internationally on Netflix on December 19, 2024.
