The Bruce Willis classic Die Hard already gave us an action-packed Christmas. Now Netflix is following up with its own movie that’s taking the charts by storm.
The question of whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not has been occupying movie fans for over 36 years now. A new action movie on Netflix, which, of all things, is set during the Christmas season and thus also falls into the gray area of the Christmas movie category, is likely to spark similar discussions.
Just in time for the pre-Christmas rush, numerous viewers were already tempted to watch the Christmas action movie on the third weekend of Advent. According to FlixPatrol, it is now number one in the film charts in a total of 88 countries, including Germany. We are talking about Carry-On.
Carry-On at number 1 in the Netflix charts: Action with Taron Egerton for Christmas
Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton) works as an airport security guard. During the Christmas season, he has a particularly busy schedule. But the Christmas rush is made even more difficult by a dangerous assignment: a traveler (Jason Bateman) blackmails the young employee into getting a special package through security. If Kopek doesn’t cooperate, his girlfriend’s life will be at risk. However, he does everything he can to convict the mysterious traveler.
The action movie from Netflix was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for films such as Unknown, Orphan and Black Adam. Alongside Kingsman star Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman (Ozark), Carry-On also stars Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) and Sofia Carson (Purple Hearts). The movie was released on Netflix on December 13, 2024 and is currently number one in the film charts in 88 countries.
