Spies in Disguise: Animated adventure in which tech nerd Walter and secret agent Lance, trapped in the body of a pigeon, must defeat the megalomaniacal McFord.
Film plot and background
Actually, Lance and Walter don’t have much to do with each other, even though they work at the same company. Lance Sterling is the best secret agent in the world. He saves humanity time and again and eliminates his opponents almost effortlessly. He impresses his fellow men with his charm and coolness. The exact opposite is technology genius Walter Beckett, who already had a degree from MIT in his pocket at 15. What he lacks in social skills, he makes up for with intelligence and ingenuity. His gadgets are indispensable for agents in the field.
Just before one of his most important missions, Lance is turned into a pigeon. How is he supposed to take out the powerful technology mogul Tristan McFord? Only Walter, who is not entirely innocent of Lance’s condition, can help him. Will the two manage to grow together into an effective team and save the world, or will evil triumph this time?

“Spies Undercover” – Backgrounds
After the animated short film “Pigeon: Impossible” from 2009, it was decided to produce an animated feature film in a similar style. Brad Copeland (“Ferdinand”) is responsible for the screenplay, while Nick Bruno, who has already done the animation for films such as “Rio” and “Ice Age”, and Troy Quane, who was also part of the creative team for “Ferdinand”, were recruited to direct.
In the original English version, Will Smith (“Men in Black”) and Tom Holland (“Spider-Man: Far from Home”) lend their voices to the two main characters Lance and Walter, as well as Rashida Jones, Karren Gillan (“Avengers: Endgame”) and DJ Khaled. The German counterparts to Smith and Holland are ProSieben presenter Steven Gätjen and actor Jannik Schümann.
After several postponements, “Spies Undercover” will start in both the USA and Germany on 25 December 2019.
