Finding Dory: In the sequel to the Pixar blockbuster “Finding Nemo”, Dory, a pallet doctor fish suffering from amnesia, goes on a quest to find her parents.
Film plot and background
Six months after the events of “Finding Nemo”, in which the clownfish family around daddy Marlin and son Nemo with his lucky fin have found each other, pallet doctorfish lady Dory has also made herself perfectly at home in the coral reef. Unfortunately, she still suffers from short-term memory problems, but thanks to her new friends she can remember things more often and for longer. One day, she has a brainwave: what actually happened to her family? Could they even live in faraway California?
Together with Nemo and Marlin, she sets off on a long journey across the Pacific to the American west coast. In her search for her parents, she meets some bizarre new friends: octopus Hank has only seven tentacles, whale shark Destiny suffers from extreme short-sightedness, while her good neighbour Beluga Bailey thinks his echo sounder doesn’t work. And then there are the two sea lions Smutje and Boje as well as loon lady Becky, who falls for Marlin. Will they meet Dorie’s parents in the Californian aquarium? And what exactly does it mean to be a family?
“Finding Dory”: Backgrounds
In 2003, Pixar once again showed a good hand for great stories for young and old and presented a cinema hit with “Finding Nemo”. Now comes the long-awaited sequel “Finding Nemo 2: Finding Dory”, in which the forgetful Dory takes centre stage. Once again, Andrew Stanton was responsible for the direction and brought both the old voices and new, prominent speakers on board. Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks return as Dory and Marlin in the original English, while “Modern Family” dads Ed O’Neill (as Hank) and Ty Burrell (as Bailey) as well as antagonists from “The Wire” Idris Elba and Dominic West (as Smutje and Boje) voice the new characters. Although Nemo’s old voice actor Alexander Gould is now 22 years old, he was given a small appearance as a truck driver. Nemo, meanwhile, will be voiced by Hayden Rolence in the original version. It is not yet clear who will dub Nemo in the German version. However, Anke Engelke and Christian Tramitz are returning to the sound studio for the roles of Dorie and Marlin.
