After the upcoming third season, “The Witcher” will continue. A fourth season has been commissioned, but with one big change: Henry Cavill will then no longer play Geralt of Riva. His successor has already been announced.
When “The Witcher” enters its fourth season, we will see Liam Hemsworth in the leading role. The brother of Marvel star Chris Hemsworth is best known for the “Tribute to Panem” series, and has also appeared in “The Expendables 2” and “Independence Day 2”, among others. In a statement on the personnel change, Hemsworth describes himself as a “‘Witcher’ fan”. He said he was “honoured” that Cavill, who was “an incredible Geralt”, was succeeding him.

NO MORE TIME FOR THE WITCHER AFTER SUPERMAN COMEBACK?
As far as the reasons for the departure are concerned, we can only speculate at the moment. The conclusion is, of course, that Henry Cavill no longer finds time in his busy schedule for the elaborate filming of entire “The Witcher” seasons – especially with the latest developments. He is now back as Superman at DC, where he is to become part of several film projects. It may not be possible to reconcile this with “The Witcher”, especially as Cavill also has many other film roles. It has just been announced that he is starring in Guy Ritchie’s new action thriller.
In any case, it has already been leaked that Cavill originally only signed a contract for three seasons, so it was now in his power not to extend it and to devote himself to other tasks.
