Silent stands the forest: thriller about a remote place in the Bavarian province and its dark past
Plot and background
Anja Grimm (Henriette Confurius) returns to the remote province in the Upper Palatinate Forest, where she last spent a family holiday when she was eight years old, as part of her forestry studies. But this place does not exactly hold positive, nostalgic childhood memories for her, because Anja’s father disappeared without a trace back then. Shortly after her return, a brutal murder takes place and the 28-year-old can’t help but suspect that the perpetrator might also have something to do with her father’s disappearance. But Anja’s suspicions and her investigative research are met with suspicion and hostility from the villagers and even the local police. The village community keeps its dark past hidden and seems to do everything in its power to prevent anyone from uncovering it.
