After the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) can hardly be stopped and DC still has various cinema films in the queue, a completely new superhero is now getting involved in the streaming fray outside of the well-known comic templates. Amazon Prime Video sent Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone into the ring in “Samaritan” in August 2022. In the film, he plays Joe, a rubbish collection worker who long ago discarded his life as a superhero and lives a hermit’s life under a different name. Until he has to return from obscurity to help little Sam (Javon Walton, “Euphoria”) fight dangerous gangsters.
– Warning! Spoilers for “Samaritan” follow –
Although Joe aka Nemesis manages to take down the bad guys and save Sam in the end, some viewers may be hoping for “Samaritan 2”. Will there be a sequel or is the story told in just one film?
“Samaritan 2”: Will there be a sequel?
Those who have come to terms with the plot twist and know that Joe is not the good superhero Samaritan, but his evil twin brother Nemesis, may want a sequel to the new action drama on Amazon Prime Video. Stallone fans will have to be disappointed at this point, however, because there is no information about a possible second part yet.
Prime users should not bury their heads in the sand right away, however, because no promise is not automatically a rejection. As with other promising titles, it is quite possible that the production already has rough plans for “Samaritan 2” in mind and only wants to wait for the critics’ and the audience’s ratings as well as the streaming figures. So anyone who would like to see a second part should diligently recommend the film on Amazon Prime Video and best of all stream it again.
“Samaritan 2”: Here’s what could happen next
While it may not yet be determined whether fans can expect a sequel, we’ve still had some thoughts on what might await Sylvester Stallone’s Joe in “Samaritan 2”.
Actually, the sequel can only go in one direction: the real Samaritan shows up. In flashbacks, we learn that Samaritan, not Nemesis, died in the fight between the identical twins. At least we see him fall into an abyss surrounded by fire. Logically, a normal human being would never survive such a fall, but since Samaritan has special abilities, he could still have survived and possibly returned.
There is also an explanation for his return after all these years of disappearance. After all, Sam told the news that Samaritan is still alive, saved him and finished off the evil gangsters. The real Samaritan might be interested to know who stole his identity. To get answers, he seeks out Sam, who leads the superhero straight to his brother Joe aka Nemesis. The only question is whether the returnee would face his twin peacefully or vengefully. Does he perhaps even blame him for the fall? And does he long to end the battle that has begun between the two? Questions upon questions that only a second part could answer.
