Rumours had it that Guardians of the Galaxy would feature one of the biggest pop stars of our time. The director of the Marvel film has now put an end to this fan dream.
Marvel fans can’t wait for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The MCU smash hit will have many grandiose moments in store, including unravelling the mystery of Rocket’s (original voice: Bradley Cooper) origin. One rumour, however, has not been confirmed. Superstar Lady Gaga will not appear as the girlfriend of the rabid raccoon.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 without Lady Gaga: Instead, she will soon be seen at DC
This is according to The Direct via an Instagram discussion between Gunn and various Marvel fans. According to the account, the director has denied Gaga’s casting as Rocket’s otter girlfriend Lylla. The character is briefly seen in the new trailer.
The origin of the rumour about Lady Gaga’s casting is not exactly known. Possibly many fans had in mind her appearance in A Star Is Born, in which she enters into a romantic relationship with Cooper’s character.
Those who would just love to see Lady Gaga in a superhero blockbuster need not despair, however. She’ll be playing Harley Quinn, who falls in love with the Batman villain in Arkham Asylum, in the DC smash Joker 2: Folie à deux.
When is Guardians of the Galaxy 3 coming to the cinema?
It will be a while before Guardians of the Galaxy 3 hits the cinema without a Lady Gaga appearance. On 3 May 2023, the MCU blockbuster will be released in this country.
