Already in “She-Hulk” episode 1 there was a short scene that caused some astonishment: When Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) were travelling together by car, a spaceship suddenly appeared in front of them. This is not only the starting point for the Origin Story of She-Hulk, but also a clear reference to “Thor 3” and a possible new “Hulk” film – and in episode 2 these hints become even more solid.
As our YouTube moderator and Marvel expert Sebastian explains in the video above, the end of “She-Hulk” episode 2 is a clear reference to the “World War Hulk” storyline from the comics. This is a sequel to the “Planet Hulk” comic, which was adapted to some extent in “Thor 3: Judgment Day”:

THIS IS “WORLD WAR HULK “
The Hulk lands on the planet Sakaar and builds his own existence there – so far we have seen this in “Thor 3”. However, in “Planet Hulk” he also creates a family, finds friends and comrades-in-arms and becomes the ruler of Sakaar – until the spaceship he landed on the planet with explodes and kills his pregnant wife.
Hulk blames the Illuminati (a group of superheroes who also featured in “Doctor Strange 2”) for this, so he gathers his so-called Warbound around him and travels to Earth in “World War Hulk” to take revenge on them – defeating pretty much all the Avengers who stand in his way.

In the MCU, this would certainly play out somewhat, as the initial situation is now quite different. A common theory is, for example, that Hulk met his son Skaar on board the ship, who now brings him back to Sakaar.
Nevertheless, “She-Hulk” now lays the foundation for a “World War Hulk” adaptation – head writer Jessica Gao confirmed this to the industry magazine TVLine. “I think it opens up the possibility if Marvel wants to do something with it, if they want to take on that story.”
In his video, however, Sebastian also addresses the possibility that the end of episode 2 could serve to set up the upcoming “Secret Invasion” series; after all, its main character Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) was also last in space.
WILL ABOMINATION BE PART OF “THUNDERBOLTS”?
In addition, Sebastian looks at Emil Blonsky aka Abomination (Tim Roth) and the question of who the seven pen pals are that the (seemingly?) reformed villain talks about – is this perhaps a hint at the upcoming “Thunderbolts” film, in which a team of super-villains and super-villains do the dirty work for the government much like the “Suicide Squad”?
And how do “She-Hulk” and “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”, in which Abomination has also already appeared, fit together in terms of timing? More answers in the next episodes: “She-Hulk” Episode 3 airs on Disney+ from 1 September 2022.
