Soon gone from Netflix: Jim Carrey as superhero, Daniel Craig in one

by Mike

A whole bunch of good films are leaving the streaming giant in the next few days. Stream highlights like “The Mask”, “Infatuation” or “American Psycho” now before they are no longer to be found at the red “N “

Once again there is a lively change at the big “N”. This week, too, some films are flying out of the streaming provider’s portfolio. Although it is possible that they will return at some point, it is not known exactly when that will be. So that you can perhaps catch up on some of the film highlights that will soon be removed from the Netflix catalogue in the next few days, we have put together some streaming tips for you here.

THESE MOVIES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A FEW MORE DAYS ON NETFLIX

“American Psycho” – until 30 January 2023 on Netflix: In the FILMSTARTS review, Christian Bale as the merciless psycho killer only received 3 stars from us, but “American Psycho” is absolute cinema cult, of which you should definitely form your own opinion. The film is a biting social satire that knows no mercy and finds its place somewhere between cynical comedy, horror film and psycho-drama. The business card “dick comparison” alone is a legendarily good movie scene that has been copied many times over the years.

“Austin Powers – The Hottest Her Majesty Has to Offer” – still on Netflix until 31 January 2023.The premise of the film is as grand as it is moronic. When the malevolent Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) gets himself frozen in 1967 so that he can carry out his mischief in the 1990s, the voluptuous secret agent Austin Powers (and once again Mike Myers) doesn’t hesitate for long and also goes into the freezing chamber to thwart the mad scientist’s evil plans in the future. Once there, Austin first has to get used to the new times, because society has changed a lot since the Swinging Sixties. Groovy, baby!

“Spider-Man” – on Netflix until 31 January 2023: Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” can confidently be called the forefather of the gigantomaniac comic blockbusters of the modern age. And the cast is also impressive – Willem Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire as the neighbourhood web-slinger. To this day, the Marvel adaptation has so many fans that there are still calls for a fourth part of the series – a wish that has been given new impetus at the latest with the meeting of the various Spider-Man incarnations in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.

“Napola – Elite für den Führer” – on Netflix until 31 January 2023: Berlin, 1942: During a boxing match, 17-year-old Friedrich (Max Riemelt) catches the attention of an instructor at the elite Nazi Napola. Once there, the boy undergoes a cruel training. Only his friend Albrecht (Tom Schilling) helps him get through this time. When refugee children are shot during a mission, the two begin to doubt the system and look for a way out. Good youth film about a dark time in German history that offers an easy-to-understand approach to this difficult subject.

“The Mask” – on Netflix until 31 January 2023: Jim Carrey as a superhero? Don’t think so? Then just check out the completely bonkers comedy “The Mask”, in which the scrunchy-faced Carrey becomes a green-faced crime fighter in a yellow suit thanks to an ancient artefact and has to rescue Cameron Diaz from the clutches of an underworld kingpin. “The Mask” is a delightfully weird comic book adaptation interspersed with cartoon elements that is still extremely worth watching today.

“My Big Fat Greek Wedding” – still on Netflix until 31 January 2023: This culture-clash comedy was the box-office surprise of 2003 and proved so successful that the film spawned two sequels. “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” offers nice, light-hearted entertainment with which you can do little wrong on a rainy day – but the RomCom will certainly not win an award for the most original screenplay.
