Hulu has released the official trailer for UnPrisoned, the forthcoming comedy series starring Emmy nominee Kerry Washington and Tony nominee Delroy Lindo. It will be available for streaming on March 10.
The video opens with Washington’s Paige as she finally reunites with her father after he was incarcerated for 17 years. It highlights the father and daughter duo’s efforts to repair their relationship, with Paige letting her father move in.
UnPrisoned is inspired by the life of author Tracy McMillan, who is also serving as an executive producer. Joining Washington and Lindo are Faly Rakotohavana, Jee Young Han, Jordyn McIntosh, Marque Richardson, Edwin Lee Gibson, and more.
“The series is a half-hour comedy about a messy but perfectionist relationship therapist and single mom whose life is turned right-side-up when her dad gets out of prison and moves in with her and her teenage son,” reads the synopsis.
UnPrisoned is executive produced by Washington, Lindo, and Yvette Lee Bowser, who’s also set as the showrunner. Executive producers are Joy Gorman Wettels, Anonymous Content, Jen Braeden, and director Kevin Bray.
This marks Washington’s first leading role in a comedy series, after previously starring in acclaimed thriller dramas including ABC’s Scandal and Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere. As for Lindo, his most recent TV role was playing Adrian Boseman in the legal drama The Good Fight, where he appeared as a main cast member for 40 episodes from 2017-2021.
