“Star Wars” fans get even more Boba Fett – but where? In a “Star

by Mike

In the series area, “Star Wars” continues to work at full speed. Shortly before the start of the third season of “The Mandalorian” it becomes clear that there will also be more of Boba Fett – but also a 2nd season of his own series?

On March 1, 2023, the third season of “The Mandalorian” will start on Disney+. And it won’t mark the end of the series either: Creator Jon Favreau just revealed in an interview with a French TV channel that he has already written the complete fourth season. It is necessary to plan ahead because he and his partner Dave Filoni want to tell a continuous story across different series. So it all has to feel like one story, and so when planning series like “Ahsoka” or “Skeleton Crew”, which are set at the same time as “The Mandalorian”, it is important to know what is going to happen in the main series around Mando and Grogu.

One series that is particularly closely tied to “The Mandalorian” is “The Book of Boba Fett”. In the first season, those responsible even said goodbye to their title character for a while in order to focus on the reunion of Mandalorian Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu. “The Book of Boba Fett” became a success despite some more subdued voices. In the end, it is said that considerably more people watched it than before “The Mandalorian”.

Nevertheless, nothing more has been heard of the spin-off since the season finale, which is now a whole year behind us. But that doesn’t mean that Boba Fett, played by Temuera Morrison, is suddenly history. This is what the latest information from the “Stars Wars” insiders at Makingstarwars.net shows.

RETURN OF BOBA FETT – SEASON 2? SEASON 4? NEW SERIES?

They have learned that new “Star Wars” props are being built in California. One part is apparently for the fourth season of “The Mandalorian”. But among the props are also some that are closely linked to Boba Fett and confirm his return to the “Star Wars” world. But what are these made for?

Of course, the suspicion is that they are also for the fourth season of “The Mandalorian”, if props are being built for that. But it is also conceivable that a second season of “The Book of Boba Fett” is being worked on. So Makingstarwars.net reports that some of their sources, who are directly working on the props themselves, believe they are making them for a second season of the Boba Fett series.

There’s a whole other possibility, though. For a while now, the rumour has been circulating that all the series for which Favreau and Filoni are responsible will culminate in a big crossover event – in other words, a kind of “The Avengers” of the “Star Wars” universe. In this crossover series, Mando, Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and other comrades-in-arms like Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant) would have to face a great threat together.

One indication of this could be a detail about the division of labour between the two current “Star Wars” series makers. Jon Favreau is currently concentrating more on “The Mandalorian”, while Dave Filoni has most recently been looking after “Ahsoka”. According to information from insiders, Filoni is now working on another project after the conclusion of the first season of “Ahsoka” – and it is explicitly not a second season of the series with the former Jedi. So Filoni is probably working on a “Star Wars” thing that hasn’t been announced yet. The crossover? Or the second season “The Book of Boba Fett”? Or something else entirely?

THIS MUCH IS CERTAIN: BOBA FETT WILL BE BACK SOON!

Makingstarwars.net makes a point of saying that the report is not an announcement of a second season of “The Book of Boba Fett”. The only thing that is certain is that the character will return. By the way, in addition to the project for which props are now being made, we think this could also happen beforehand in the third season of “The Mandalorian”. It’s quite possible that an appearance by Boba Fett has also been filmed for this, which has been kept secret until now.

An announcement may be coming soon. On the Easter weekend in April 2023, the Star Wars Celebration will take place in London. New projects are likely to be revealed there – possibly including a second season of “The Book of Boba Fett” or a whole new series like the possible crossover event? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: Boba Fett is coming back!
