Universal Pictures has released the official Trolls Band Together trailer for the upcoming third installment to DreamWorks Animation’s animated musical film franchise, which will feature the return of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake as the voices of Poppy and Branch. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 17.
The video brings Timberlake back to his NSYNC roots, as his character Branch gets a visit from his long-lost brother who reveals his secret as a former boyband member. His brother plans to bring back the band together by enlisting Branch to help him find their other brothers.
Described as an action-packed, all-star, rainbow-colored family reunion like no other, Trolls Band Together is directed by Walt Dohrn and Tim Heitz. In addition to Kendrick and Timberlake, the film will also feature the return of Zooey Deschanel as Bridget, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Gristle, the Icona Pop duo Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt as Satin and Chenille, Anderson .Paak as Prince D, comedian Ron Funches as Cooper, Kunal Nayyar as Guy Diamond and Kenan Thompson as Tiny Diamond.
The third film in the series will also introduce new cast members in the form of Troye Sivan as Floyd, Eric André as John Dory, Daveed Diggs as Spruce, Kid Cudi as Clay, Amy Schumer as Velvet, Andrew Rannells as Veneer, Camila Cabello as Viva, Zosia Mamet as Crimp, and RuPaul Chares as Miss Maxine.
“After two films of true friendship and relentless flirting, Poppy and Branch are now officially, finally, a couple (broppy)! As they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past. He was once part of her favorite boyband phenomenon, BroZone, with his four brothers: Floyd, John Dory, Spruce, and Clay. BroZone disbanded when Branch was still a baby, as did the family, and Branch hasn’t seen his brothers since,” says the synopsis.
“But when Branch’s bro Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious pop-star villains—Velvet and Veneer—Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop-culture obscurity.”
Trolls Band Together is produced by Gina Shay. DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls films—2016’s Trolls and 2020’s Trolls World Tour—have sung and danced their way to record-breaking success, earning an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song and fueling one of the largest and most beloved entertainment brands in the world.
