A new The Color Purple trailer has been released ahead of the musical movie adaptation’s Christmas day release date. The trailer shows off some of the film’s star-studded cast, including Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, and Halle Bailey.
The Color Purple’s synopsis describes it as “a musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel about the life-long struggles of an African-American woman living in the south during the early 1900s.”

Who is making The Color Purple?
Slated for a December 25, 2023 theatrical release, The Color Purple will be produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, who have worked together on the 1985 film adaptation. Joining Spielberg and Winfrey as producers are Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones with Alice Walker, Rebecca Walker, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Carla Gardini and Mara Jacobs serving as executive producers.
The movie stars Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Fantasia Barrino.
