Peterchens Mondfahrt: Animated update of Gerdt von Bassewitz’s classic fairytale about two siblings who travel to the moon, which has already been filmed many times.
Film plot and background
An animated update of Gerdt von Bassewitz’s classic fairytale about two siblings who travel to the moon.
The siblings Peter (Dirk Petrick) and his little sister Anna (Roxana Samadi) don’t know it yet, but they are in for the biggest adventure of their lives. They are new in town and have not yet made any new friends. One night, Anna notices the talking cockchafer Mr. Sumsemann (Peter Simonischek), who tells her that the nasty moon man has banished his sixth leg to the moon. Only two children who have never harmed an animal before will be able to help him.
Anna immediately offers her and Peter’s help and plunges into the great adventure without a second thought. For Peter, it initially becomes a rescue mission in which he finds himself in worlds he could never have dreamed of. On their journey to the moon, Peter, Anna and Mr. Sumsemann make the acquaintance of the Night Fairy, the big bear Ursa Major, the shrewd Sandman and other curious characters. At the end of their journey, they have to summon up their courage to trick the nasty moon man and help Mr Sumsemann. Maybe they’ll even save the whole universe in the process.
