Thirty-something comedy and German remake of a Danish comedy with three friends against their will on a wellness trip that gets out of hand.
Eva’s (Rosalie Thomass) world is in a mess. Her husband has left her for the successful influencer Bella (Almila Bagriacik), who also gets along with Eva’s little daughter. But Eva’s best friend Marlene (Marie Burchard) also gets on well with the supposed enemy. This could also be due to Marlene’s problems with men.
She has no desire for the same routine in her planned marriage and prefers to have fun with her affair Peter (August Wittgenstein). At a hunting weekend of Peter and his friends, Marlene is supposed to keep them company. Thanks to Bella’s connections, nothing stands in the way of a supposed ladies’ wellness weekend at the same hotel. While Bella pleads for Marlene to “fuck her lover out of her head”, Eva travels along against her will to prevent something worse. But on the first evening the situation quickly goes to her head and she slips from one unpleasant situation into the next.
“Hunting season” – background, cast, cinema release
Following the modern retelling of “Cyrano de Bergerac” with “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” (2018), director Aron Lehmann stages the next comedy in which women take centre stage. “Jagdsaison” is the German remake of the Danish comedy “Jagtsæson” (2019) starring Mille Dinesen, Lærke Winther and Stephania Potalivo. The screenplay was adapted by Aron Lehmann, Rosalie Thomass and Lea Schmidbauer.
In front of the camera, Rosalie Thomass (“The Kangaroo Chronicles”), Almila Bagriacik (“4 Blocks”) and Marie Burchard (“Oskar’s Dress”) can be seen in the leading roles of the three women. Other stars such as Golo Euler (“Fado”), August Wittgenstein (“Das Boot”) and Thorsten Merten (“Halbe Treppe”) round off the ensemble. The theatrical release of “Jagdsaison” is on 18 August 2022.
