Une belle course: Drama about a taxi ride for a 92-year-old who opens the taxi driver’s eyes
Plot and background
Taxi driver Charles (Dany Boon) can’t guess how the day will go when the resolute and warm-hearted Madeleine (Line Renaud) gets into his car. His day so far has been dominated by traffic jams, grumpy train passengers and taciturn people. But the 92-year-old lady is about to embark on a crucial journey. She is leaving her old home behind and moving to a nursing home on the other side of town. With her expressions and unorthodox wishes, she soon hits right into his heart. She has already experienced a lot and, at an advanced age, assumes that every taxi ride can be the last. Therefore, she asks him to stop at the places from her past.
There she not only reminisces, but can reflect on good times. At the same time, it is a great experience, especially for Charles, who is even more fascinated by Madeleine’s life with every stop. He, too, struggles with private problems, which he recounts in the course of the long taxi ride that seems never-ending. Of course, Madeleine, with her life experience, has a word or two of advice at the ready.
