Netflix tells outrageous drug story with Oppenheimer star and Chris Evans
Pain Hustlers revolves around single mother Liza Drake (Blunt), who, with no prior experience, helps an entrepreneur’s (Evans) pharmaceutical company achieve great success. Her most successful prescription, on paper, is to help patients with terminal cancer. And is extremely addictive.
Yates’ film is based on the true story of Insys, a company that made extreme profits in a short time with its drug Subsys. Insys used doctors in a criminal way as draught horses and falsified its documents to clients, as Collider describes. Subsys contained the active ingredient fentanyl, one of the most dangerous substances in the opioid crisis that has been raging in the U.S. for 30 years and has claimed the lives of several people.
