La dégustation: Romantic French drama about two people of advanced age who get to know each other better over good wine.
Film plot and background
Romantic French drama about two people of advanced age who get to know each other better over good wine.
In his mid-fifties, Jacques (Bernard Campan) is known by those around him as a grumpy single man. He has said goodbye to love for too long, the memories of happier days are too painful. He earns his living with a wine shop and tasting the finest wines. When the charming Hortense (Isabelle Carré) walks through his shop door, there is quickly a certain chemistry between the two.
Hortense has a big heart herself, but no one to share it with. At home, she takes care of her cat while her mother constantly gives her tips for life. Sparks fly between Hortense and Jacques, but the more time they spend together, the more old wounds come to the surface, making the chance of true happiness a distant prospect.
