Gæsterne: Danish psychological thriller, about a couple who quickly regret accepting the invitation of their vacation acquaintance.

Plot and background

During their Tuscany vacation, Danish family man Bjørn (Morten Burian) and his wife Louise (Sidsel Siem Koch) meet a sympathetic Dutch family. The two couples get on extremely well and when, months later, the couple receives an unexpected invitation to spend the weekend together with their daughter at their newfound friends in the Netherlands, they are initially thrilled by the idea. Once on the ground, however, the initial reunion joy gives way to growing unease as a series of misunderstandings and barely noticeable boundary crossings complicate their life together. Before they know it, Bjørn and Louise realize they’ve fallen into a perfidious trap.
