“House of Gucci” – background, cast, cinema release
Director Ridley Scott (“Gladiator”) has wanted to adapt the Gucci family saga for the big screen since 2006. The script was based on the non-fiction book “The House of Gucci” by Sara Gay Forden, which, according to family members of the Gucci clan, had some inconsistencies.
Many attempts to adapt the film for the screen later and after changing stars and directors associated with the project, the original version finally manifested itself in 2020. The main roles are played by Oscar winner Lady Gaga (“A Star is Born”) and Oscar nominee Adam Driver (“Marriage Story”). But the rest of the cast also reads like a who’s who in Hollywood: Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club”), Jeremy Irons (“Lolita”), Al Pacino (“The Godfather”) and Salma Hayek (“Eternals”) will embody the Gucci family saga with their performances.
Filming did not take place until 2021 in Italy and the Alps and was completed in May. The biopic by Ridley Scott will be released in German cinemas in the same year. The theatrical release of “House of Gucci” is on 2 December 2021.
