Black Panther – plot
Following the events of “The First Avenger: Civil War”, Prince T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns to his homeland of Wakanda. The technologically advanced state is completely cut off from the outside world. The tribal leaders fear that the young heir to the throne could make the same mistake as his father and open Wakanda up further. Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), an old friend of T’Challa, is assigned to protect the state secrets. Together they get on the trail of a conspiracy.
The reason for Wakanda’s immense wealth is a rare mineral treasure: the so-called vibranium, an energy-absorbing mineral of extraterrestrial origin. T’Challa, who has no superpowers himself, uses it for his battle suit. Captain America’s (Chris Evans) shield is also made of it. The arms dealer Ulysses Klaw (Andy Serkis) is not the only one who has his eye on it. The exiled Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) proposes a deal to Ulysses Klaw to claim the throne of Wakanda for himself.
Black Panther – theatrical release and age rating
While the first images are already convincing with a fresh setting and new characters, fans are eagerly awaiting the theatrical release of “Black Panther”. It won’t be long now until the next Marvel spectacle hits the cinemas. The German theatrical release date is set for 15 February 2018. With regard to the age rating of “Black Panther”, the FSK has not yet made a final statement. However, we expect an age rating of 12 years and up.

Black Panther Movie – Cast
With Black Panther, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)’s first black hero is getting his own movie, if you exclude the “Luke Cage” series. Originally, the standalone Black Panther movie was supposed to come out in 2017. Instead, it has swapped places with the new “Spider-Man Homecoming” and “Captain Marvel”, the first of the Marvel films with a female superhero as the main character.
The screenplay is by Joe Robert Cole (“American Crime Story”), while Ryan Coogler (“Creed – Rocky’s Legacy”) is in the director’s chair. Little is yet known about the cast: As expected, Chadwick Boseman will play the title character. Michael B. Jordan (“Creed”), Danai Gurira (Michonne in “Walking Dead”), Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years a Slave”), Angela Bassett and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker (“Rogue One”) are also in the cast. Andy Serkis returns as the villain Ulysses Klaw. Klaw already targeted the mineral resources of Wakanda in the “Avengers” series.
As the images from the trailer for “Black Panther” suggest, the film will mainly revolve around a power conflict within the remote kingdom of Wakanda. Obviously, the plot is mainly set in the high-tech country, which is hidden in a kind of inner world. There, T’Challa a.k.a. Black Panther is preparing to prepare the throne when his place is disputed by several adversaries. T’Challa therefore turns to CIA agent Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) for help.
