We Can Be Heroes: Netflix superhero movie in which kids must rise above after their superhero parents are abducted by an alien.
Movie plot and background
They are the children of the greatest superheroines the world has ever seen. But when aliens land on Earth and kidnap their famous parents, the gifted kids are first taken to a safe house by the government. However, Missy Moreno (YaYa Gosselin), daughter of Marcus Moreno (Pedro Pascal), doesn’t want to stand by and do nothing.
Missy asks the other kids Rewind (Isiah Russell-Bailey), A Capella (Lotus Blossom), Fast Forward (Akira Akbar), Ojo (Hala Finley) and Slo-Mo (Dylan Henry) as well as Guppy (Vivien Lyra Blair), daughter of the famous duo Lavagirl (Taylor Dooley) and Sharkboy (J.J. Dashnaw), for support. First they have to learn to control their powers and use them together before they can escape from the care of the mysterious babysitter Ms Granada (Priyanka Chopra). Only then can they save their parents around Crimson Legend (J. Quinton Johnson), Red Lightning Fury (Brittany Perry-Russell), Ms. Vox (Haley Reinhart), Miracle Guy (Boyd Holbrook) and Tech-No (Christian Slater).
“We Can Be Heroes” – cast, background
Over 15 years have passed since “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D”, now director, screenwriter and producer Robert Rodriguez sends the now grown-up superheroes on a new adventure. The focus, as should be expected from the director of the “Spy Kids” films, is once again on the children of the next generation.
While the adult cast features prominent names like Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”), Boyd Holbrook (“Narcos”), Christian Slater (“Mr. Robot”) and Priyanka Chopra (“Baywatch”), the kids are no strangers either. YaYa Gosselin is known from series like “FBI: Most Wanted”, Akira Akbar was seen in “Captain Marvel” and Vivien Lyra Blair embodied the little girl from “Bird Box”. Fans of Sharkboy and Lavagirl can at least look forward to the return of Taylor Dooley as Lavagirl. The Sharkboy of old, Taylor Lautner, has been replaced by J.J. Dashnaw.
