House Party – Fake it till you make it

House Party: remake of the popular 1990 comedy classic in which two desperate club promoters plan the biggest house party ever.

Plot and background

Damon (Tosin Cole) and Kevin’s (Jacob Latimore) big success as budding club promoters has so far eluded them. The best friends can’t seem to shake their losing streak and while Damon still lives with his mother, Kevin can’t raise the money needed to pay for his young daughter’s schooling. When the two finally lose their jobs as cleaning helpers, they come up with a plan to get their money problems under control for good.

The friends want to throw the party of the year. And what better location than the luxury villa they were last allowed to clean. Coincidentally, this mansion belongs to none other than basketball player LeBron James, who, however, is not let in on the party plans, according to the motto: “It’ll be fine! And so it does. The party quickly gets out of hand and the organisers Damon and Kevin have to deal with uninvited guests, angry competitors, stuffy neighbours, valuable stolen goods, increasing property damage and a stoner koala.

The trailer for the film promises a humorous, unforgettable and not always entirely G-rated party adventure:

“House Party – Fake it till you make it” – background, cast, theatrical release

“House Party – Fake it till you make it” brings a star-studded, modern remake of the 1990 classic “House Party” to the big screen. Grammy award-winning music video director Calmatic makes his feature film debut with the comedy. NBA star LeBron James (“Space Jam 2”) was also behind the camera, along with Maverick Carter (“What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali”), as a producer. The screenplay for the film was written by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover (“Atlanta”).

The party comedy also impresses with some special cameo appearances, because the stars naturally don’t miss the biggest house party of all time. For example, rapper Snoop Dogg can already be seen running through the frame in the trailer. The two lovable buddies Damon and Kevin are played by Tosin Cole (“61st Street”) and Jacob Latimore (“Detroit”). Other roles include Karen Obilom (“Games People Play”), D.C. Young Fly (“For the Love of Money”) and Scott Mescudi (“Don’t Look Up”).

House Party – Fake it till you make it” will be released in German cinemas on 12 January 2023.
