Skatergirlz: German coming-of-age film starring influencers Lisa and Lena about four friends who form a skate crew.
Plot and background
Although Alex (Lena Mantler) and Juli (Lisa Mantler) look exactly alike as identical twins, they couldn’t be more different. While Alex doesn’t think much of school and even failed her A-levels, Juli already has clear plans for the future and an A-level in her pocket. But after school, they first have a free summer at the skate park ahead of them. Together with the rebellious Ewa (Sinje Irslinger) and the skate beginner Nia (Jobel Mokonzi), the four friends found the skate crew GetUp and even want to take part in a contest together.
With their eyes firmly fixed on the winner’s prize, a joint Interrail trip and new boards for all of them, the girls even win the preliminary selection. But on the way to the home stretch, Alex, Juli, Ewa and Nia face several obstacles, such as their first great love, the twins’ shared past and quarrels in the crew. Can the four friends still manage to secure the big prize and make a name for themselves as a skate crew?
The official trailer promises a swashbuckling summer film:
