Gunpowder Milkshake: Action thriller in which Karen Gillan (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones”) must protect a little girl as an assassin mother-daughter duo.

Plot and background

Mission assassin Eva (Karen Gillan) and her estranged mother Scarlet (Lena Headey) don’t have much in common, except that they were both trained by the same crime syndicate. With her skills, Eva is in high demand and is hired for the most difficult assignments. But when unexpected complications arise, she has to make a decision: Is she loyal to her clients or does she save an eight-year-old girl and become a target herself?

Of course, she can’t leave the girl to her fate and so circumstances require Eva to work with her mother on her new mission – because that’s the only way they stand a chance against her former employers. Get a taste of the action-packed thriller in the trailer:

“Gunpowder Milkshake” – Backgrounds

After their acclaimed last project “Big Bad Wolves” (2013), Israeli director and writer duo Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales return to the big screen. With “Gunpowder Milkshake”, the audience can expect an action-packed thriller that is bursting with female power. Led by Karen Gillan (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Lena Headeay (“Game of Thrones”), a female group of assassins takes on a male cartel. The two leading actresses are supported by Angela Bassett (“Black Panther”, “9-1-1: 911 L.A.”), Michelle Yeoh (“Tiger and Dragon”, “Star Trek: Discovery”) and Chloe Coleman (“Big Little Lies”, “Avatar 2”), among others. Paul Giamatti (“San Andreas”), Adam Nagaitis (“Chernobyl”, “The Commuter”), Samuel Anderson (“Another Life”) and “4 Blocks” actor Georges Khoukaz are also in the cast.

The action thriller was shot in Berlin in summer 2019. However, the Covid 19 pandemic delayed the start. While “Gunpowder Milkshake” can already be seen on Netflix in the USA from July, we can look forward to a cinema release here in Germany the following month: The action thriller can be seen in Germany from 2 December 2021.
