Where the Crawdads Sing: novel adaptation of the best-selling novel starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as a marching girl
Film plot and background
Movie adaptation of the bestselling novel starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as the March Girl.
The Marsh Girl is the subject of many myths in the Barkley Cove community. In fact, few have ever met the reclusive Kya (Daisy Ridley-Jones), who has lived on her own in the swamps of North Carolina since early childhood. Yet she wants for nothing there.
When two young men (Harris Dickinson and Taylor John Smith) befriend her, she realises the benefits that life in civilisation could bring. But one of the men dies mysteriously. It is clear to the community that Kya must have committed the murder. Soon her case ends up in court, where the prosecution demands nothing less than the death penalty for the young woman. As her lawyer Tom Milton (David Strathairn) fights to solve the case and save her life, more and more revelations come to light about the community that will change everyone’s lives forever.
