“Terminator 2 3D” – Backgrounds

When director James Cameron released the sequel to his dystopian science fiction actioner “Terminator” in 1991, he made movie history. “Terminator 2 – Day of Reckoning” is considered by many fans to be the high point of the franchise, which now includes a whopping five feature films as well as the series “The Sarah Connor Chronicles.” Cameron laid the foundation for this success in 1991, however, when the second entry in the action franchise was nominated for six Oscars. The film eventually cleaned up in the categories of “Best Sound Editing,” “Best Sound Mixing,” “Best Makeup” and “Best Visual Effects.”

While it is still unclear what will happen to the franchise after “Terminator: Genisys,” fans can now look forward to the fully restored 3D version of the action classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (“The Expendables 3,” “Sabotage”). Back in 2012, James Cameron (“Avatar”) restored his super blockbuster “Titanic” and converted it to 3D. Just in time for the 100th anniversary of the ship disaster on April 6, 2012 in theaters – and was a complete success! “Titanic 3D” was able to bring in a total of 342 million US dollars.
