The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad: “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn writes and directs the relaunch of DC’s antihero squad as they embark on a suicide mission.

Plot and background

When all the superheroes are busy, someone else has to do the dirty work. That’s exactly what the Suicide Squad is for, a group of super-villains forced by the government to risk their lives to save the world. And amazingly, it works pretty well!

We met the stars of “The Suicide Squad” for an interview:

“The Suicide Squad” – plot

Originally, heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman or the Justice League should protect the world. But often enough, these heroes are currently travelling in space or are far too valuable to risk on a suicide mission. For such cases, the government needs a very special strike force. They need superpowers. But they also need to be expendable. Fortunately, the prisons are full of supervillains who, with a little “persuasion”, are persuaded to join the Suicide Squad.

The idea for what is probably the craziest hero squad comes from Task Force X leader Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). She herself selects a number of villains and has a small, remote-controlled bomb implanted in their heads. From then on they have to save the world as the Suicide Squad if they want to survive. This time, the con men are selected at Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the USA. The inmates will try anything to get a breath of fresh air and are even not too shy to join Task Force X.

The old team around everyone’s favourite psycho Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) is joined by the Peacemaker (John Cena) and Bloodsport (Idris Elba). Also in the mix are Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), Savant (Michael Rooker), King Shark (voiced by Sylvester Stallone), Blackguard (Pete Davidson) and Javelin (Flula Borg). Today’s do-or-die mission takes them, along with a fair number of weapons, to the island of Corto Maltese, which is overrun with enemies.
