AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
There is a trailer for episode 3 of “The Rings of Power”, but so far it is exclusive to Prime customers on Amazon (under “Extras” on the “Rings of Power” page and there under “Bonus”). Unsurprisingly, it shows Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) waking up on a ship – after all, they were found on their raft by the crew of a ship at the end of episode 2 and were obviously rescued.
However, the trailer also refuses to answer our question as to who the figure was that looked down on them at the end of episode 2. However, the sun emblem on the sails of the ship tells us that it is a ship of Elendil (Lloyd Owen), so we assume that the figure was either Elendil himself or his son Isildur (Maxim Baldry). Here you can see a detail from a figure poster showing the sun crest on Elendil’s breastplate:
And they should sail to Númenor, even if the name itself is not mentioned in the trailer – but when Galadriel says “this can only be one place”, it can really only be the mighty island kingdom of men from which Elendil and Isildur come. Because this is supposed to become an important place of action in season 1 and so far we haven’t seen it.In episode 3 there is also the fight of Elf Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova) with several orcs. These are looking for something – and we suspect it is the broken sword with the Sauron symbol that Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin) found and magically “activated” with his blood. After all, the orc was quite fixated on Theo in episode 2 and hardly got involved in a fight with his mother Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi). In episode 3 we could now learn a bit more about the sword – and perhaps already about Theo’s father, who has so far only been mentioned meaningfully but not named in detail?
WHERE IS THE METEOR MAN GOING?
Also looking for something is the mysterious man from the meteorite (Daniel Weyman), who could possibly turn out to be a wizard (though not Gandalf). Whether he and the orcs are looking for the same thing is still open – in any case, the stranger wants to get to a place from which a certain constellation of stars can be seen. His Harfoot rescuer Nori (Markella Kavenagh) will help him in episode 3, and in the preview she is already studying a star map in the thick tome that Sadoc Burrows (Lenny Henry) opened in episode 1.
Whether we will find out directly in episode 3 what is hidden in the dwarves’ chest, however, is not certain. The dwarves do not appear at all in the trailer – and it is quite possible that this is a secret that will not be revealed for a while yet. By the way, this could also be one of the items that is being searched for…
