“The Rings of Power” knocked off its throne on Prime Video: This

by Tommy

In the top ten of Amazon Prime Video, the fantasy epic “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” was able to hold on to the number one spot for weeks. But now another series is more popular than the recently concluded season 1 of “Rings of Power”…

Well, that was pretty quick. Just a fortnight ago, the first season of the mega-series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Amazon Prime Video came to an end, dominating the Amazon top ten for weeks. And now the fantasy hit has had to vacate the top position again, because more people are now watching the latest Amazon success instead of catching up on episodes of “The Rings of Power”.

The sci-fi series “Periphery” is now more popular on Amazon Prime Video than the “Lord of the Rings” series. A look at the top ten shows: “Periphery” has moved up to number one, “The Rings of Power” has slipped down to number two.

“The Peripheral”, as the series is called in the original, has snatched the Friday launch slot from “The Rings of Power”: Since 21 October 2022, a new episode has always been released on Fridays, so we are currently on episode 2 of the eight-part first season. The season finale of “Periphery” will be released on 9 December 2022. And by the way, it is supposed to continue then: Season 2 of “Peripherie” is probably already being planned, but not yet officially ordered by Amazon.

WHAT “PERIPHERY” IS ABOUT

The series “Periphery” is based on the book of the same name by William Gibson and has a renowned producing duo behind it in “Westworld” creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Kick-Ass” star Chloë Grace Moretz is in the leading role. She plays gamer Flynne Fisher, whose family has money troubles in near-future America. One day Flynne fills in for her brother Burton (Jack Reynor) at his work. She is to test a video game – supposedly…

Using a headset, Flynne finds herself in dystopian 22nd century London. Shocked, however, she soon discovers that she is not in a simulation: The device can actually be used to travel through time! Flynne is contacted in the future by a man named Wylf (Gary Carr), whom she is supposed to help solve a murder – but ends up in mortal danger herself…

But if you prefer to watch new “The Rings of Power” episodes again on Fridays: That will take quite a while. We don’t expect “The Rings of Power” season 2 to start before 2024, but we’ve already put together a list of what season 2 might be about…
