After more than 3 years of waiting: Amazon Prime Video continues popular

by Han

Three and a half years fans of “Carnival Row” had to wait, now there is actually the first trailer and the start date of the second season of the neo-noir fantasy series. However, “Carnival Row” Season 2 will also be the last season.

Well, fans have had to be patient: In classic television, there is usually a new season every year, with particularly elaborate streaming series such as “Stranger Things” or currently “House Of The Dragon” and “The Rings Of Power”, it sometimes takes two years – but the fact that there are actually three and a half years (!) between two seasons is quite unusual. The first season of “Carnival Row” was released in August 2019 and Amazon has now announced in a short teaser trailer that Season 2 will start on 17 February 2023.

The reason for the long wait is – unsurprisingly – the Corona pandemic on the one hand, and on the other, leading actor Orlando Bloom, who was only able to finish shooting his scenes for season 2 in 2021 due to the birth of his child. But no matter: Fans of “Carnival Row” will be happy about a second season either way. At the same time, there is also bad news: “Carnival Row” Season 2 will also be the last season of the neo-noir fantasy series.

SO WHAT HAPPENS IN SEASON 2

According to Amazon’s official press release, Bloom will once again investigate a brutal series of murders in “Carnival Row” Season 2 as former Inspector Rycroft Philostrate aka Philo, while female lead Cara Delevigne seeks revenge as Vignette Stonemoss for the ongoing oppression of the faerie people by the Burgue’s human leaders Jonah Breakspear (Arty Froushan) and Sophie Longerbane (Caroline Ford).

In addition, Tourmaline (Karla Crome) gains supernatural powers that cause quite a stir in her life and threaten the fate of The Row, while Imogen Spurnrose (Tamzin Merchant) and Agreus Astrayon (David Gyasi) encounter a radical new society…

THIS IS “CARNIVAL ROW “

If you only understood what was said in the last two paragraphs, let’s expand a little: “Carnival Row” is set in a world where the home of the fairy people has been destroyed and conquered by the humans belonging to the so-called Pact. Fairies, fauns and other mythical creatures therefore flee to the city-state of The Burgue, which is at war with the Pact. But in Burgue they are considered second-class creatures by most humans, exploited and oppressed .

Carnival Row a.k.a. The Row is one of the neighbourhoods of The Burgue, a social hotspot where humans and fairy folk clash and Inspector Philostrate also had to solve a murder case in the first season. Philo and Vignette Stonemoss already know each other from before and are connected by a complicated love affair…
